Roma Empowerment Through Heritage - Part 2

Jani Lang 15 January 2023

In 2021 Ando Glaso teamed up with the National Library of Scotland to embark on a year long project. Supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund they approached members of the various Roma communities around Scotland and asked them to share with us what Roma culture and heritage means to them. Participants created their own contributions that will be archived in the National Library of Scotland. The collected material will also be available on OPA! as we will keep uploading them over the following weeks. Please enjoy the second series of videos:

Family Iancovic - Romanian Roma dances from Bihor county performed by a trio of father, son and daughter-in-law.

Titel - Prominent figure of Glasgow's busking scene, Varga George (Titel) is talking about his life and demonstrates music from the Romanian Roma traditions.

Taraful din Glasgow - Traditional Roma music group based in Glasgow, originally from the Bihor region of Romania performing music from their own community.
